Don't worry too much Noob.
Just keep learning new techniques on your PP software program, broaden your skills for applying PP tools appropriately to each of your images, and you'll soon find PP becoming second nature.

LR3 is great, though PS is more versatile and offers more to the photographer. Nevertheless, it's be prudent to get yourself Lightroom resources and tutorials specific to your needs.

Do you shoot RAW?
If not it would be in your best interest.

Also, my advice to you would be to look into Photoshop. Even if you can't afford Photoshop, then you can install it as a 30day demo and use it. That would be a good start imo.

Yes, I only shoot RAW! (I blame Jared Polin, lol)

One thing you may want to consider is taking part in the Post Processing Challenges in PF's Mini-Challenges, Games, and Photo Stories - PentaxForums.com forum.

This can be very educational as you challenge yourself to process another shooter's photo and then lets you compare your results to other contestants.
