Signature on prints for exhibition

I recently did some printing for an exhibition (my very first) but was until I have the images mounted and laminated that I realized that I have to sign them but don't know with what media. So, I wonder which material is best to sign photographs and what information, if any, may be added to document an image.

Regards.

Do you have photoshop?

Use this tutorial for signatures and watermarks:http://www.ephotozine.com/article/watermarking-your-photos-in-photoshop-7-and-cs-4881

I would think for exhibition prints you'd want them to be an original signature... not photoshopped in.

Something like a sharpie would be my thought...

It's been 20 years since I did such a thing, but back in the day we used (mostly) acid free paper stickers that we signed and numbered (for prints) and stuck on the back of the print, then a duplicate on the frame for viewers to see. That didn't deface the image but validated its authenticity and its serial number.
