Pentax on sale at Target!

The usual influx of junk mail arrived in my post box today, rubbish from politicians, scammers, and various other charlatans. While tossing it all out, I noticed a big red PENTAX on the back of a Target store brochure...whats that?...PENTAX??

Pentax marketing must be finally doing something about selling their wares. The Ad has a K-x a sigma 18- 200 kit zoom a Vanguard day pack and an 8gB SD card for $675!

That's a great deal for a beginner.

Not sure how I feel about it though, in a perverse way I like having a 'secret' camera brand.

No way!
That's the first I've ever seen Target even offer a Pentax dSLR on their floor stock!
Must be trying to clear the K-x stock in Australia to make way for the K-r.
I'll have to check it out myself. Thanks for sharing this mate.

I've seen Pentax SLR's offered by OfficeWorks, who are in the same Wesfarmers-owned stable as Target, K-Mart, Bunnings and Coles. In fact in 2009 I bought my K-x from OfficeWorks.

As long as they don't start selling the K-x in the aisles at Coles though, next to the toasters and $49 DVD players. That would be a bad look for the brand.

That would be a sad day.

Yeah, I've seen it in Officeworks too.
Didn't expect it to be in Target, but now I believe it. Last page of the electronics section: Target Catalogue: ?DVDs, We Have It All?

I reckon it'll sell alright just being on that catalogue...

I totally feel the same way! I don't really like that idea..
Now Pentax will raise their prices too...

Target in the USA does not sell Pentax DSLR's at all.

I wonder if they'll start stocking K-5's at reasonable prices?

Saw that Target Catalogue today as well - also saw Pentax DSLR being sold in BigW asked if they were going to sell the lenses as well, got a very confused look and was told (very slowly and with a roll of the eyes)that it comes with a lens.

Pentax is now in the hands of the masses.

Yeah, you can't expect them to go that far Falcons. You're just trying to push your luck.
Target have always been into consumer electronics, but Pentax's entry dSLR models haven't made an entrance into the big chain store until now. Then again, they don't often feature dSLRs anyway. So many other electronics chain stores to choose from for this market. That's why I'd be even more intrigued if places like Harvey Norman, Myer and JB Hifi bring on Petnax's flagships. We still have to wait for more stock to come in from Japan though...

I don't see HN getting into Pentax. If I recall correctly, Gerry Harvey threw a tantrum at CRK and subsequently HN refuses to stock Pentax. Even point and shoot Pentaxes.

Not that it matters to me. HN is a horrible store that usually charges above RRP for everything, and always has a limited range of camera gear. I only set foot in HN to do prints from time to time.

Ah, yes, but do they give you the first roll of film also?
