I like to share my experiences, and don't always have someone along. Taking a good photograph is a way to "save" a slice of what I was seeing, so I can share it later.
Of course, that doesn't always work well, depending on whether I'm flying, canoeing, hunting
or whatever... but I still take a P&S along even then.

Im shocked no one has said this yet.....

I love photography because im good at it
no in all seriousness we naturally love things we have a knack for. Thus I love photography obviously there are other reasons...... (some of which involve my other passions like for example bugs. Photography enables me to get an entirely impossible view of them in all their glory with detail our eyes could never pick up.)

I am not part of the group who thinks their photographs are a form of art, I don't believe any of my shots are. I Still love this overly expensive hobby though!!

I love visual art, sometimes have things to say and I can't draw worth a damn.

I have no choice.

The voices in my head tell me to shoot people.

BUT...the voices don't tell me what to shoot with.

So I use a camera.

Seriously though, I love photography because I suck at playing guitar and most other creative pursuits. I suck a lot less at photography (or so I like to think) so it's the one artistic pursuit I can engage in that soothes my soul.

I tried painting and drawing, but have no talent. Photography is one artistic pursuit I can do well enough to enjoy it. It is my creative outlet. I also manage to sell enough to make the hobby self supporting. Maybe someday if this depression ever ends I'll actually make money at it.

I like photography because it is easy to learn, but difficult to master. It allows great artistic freedom, while requiring a large amount precision and patience.

I can't really say that I "love" photography. It's more like obsessive-compulsive disorder.

It's more like a addiction for me, some nights at the some particular hours my finger itches, and I took pictures of things in the house which I took zillion time before.

I think because I got bitten by the bug. I purchased a dslr just to take better pictures of the kids and now the kids are often the last thing that is being photographed. I love also I can record a moment in time and have other people say "wow or ohh" (or something similar - shallow I know). It also gives me great pleasure to learn a new technique or use a new bit of equipment. I just love it - it has actually surprised me to learn how much I do. I must love it as I am going out in the cold tonight to a camera club meeting!!

Cheers

just because we hit 57 replies doesn't mean we have to stop keep posting why you love photography and you could make it into the video!

Answer this question: Why Do You Love Photography?
Cos it pays the bills and this allows me to eat.

This has got to rate as one of the best replies, surely.
