Please help quickly! Store in Krakow Poland?

hi all,

i'm in krakow on a trip. just before leaving my home, i left two sets of batteries to charge, and forgot to pack in the morning before heading out to poland.

so now i'm in poland, with a k5 15/4 and 70/2.4, but no battery!

does anyone know where i can get some here? i've had a look around the centre of town and the internet, and couldn't find any camera stores.

help is very much appreciated.

thanks!

This is a google search for the Polish for 'camera shop Krakow'

sklep fotograficzny krakow - Google Search

Seems to be a few. I managed to get a battery for a lumix fz-10 from a tiny camera shop in Prague having done the same thing - I just looked for anywhere that looked like it sold film and tried my luck.

Not been to Krakow for years, but I guess there will be someone around the square. Good luck - let us know how you get on.

Pentax battery page - Akcesoria do aparatów > ?ród?a zasilania > do Pentaxa

250 zloty = Ł56 = $89 US

Not sure if that's a good price for a genuine one?

I'd get the Ł30 / $48US copy myself.

Hey Northern Soul,

Thanks so much for that. You are a much better Googler than I—I was hunting around for half an hour without any luck!

Unfortunately, I only checked back on this thread 5 minutes before the shop was closing, so didn't make it there today.

You pointed a shop out that is only one block away from my hotel, which makes things very convenient indeed.

I'll pop over tomorrow to sort things out and will update as to how I get on. But in the meantime, thank you, very genuinely—very very much appreciated.

Cheerio!

No problems - looks like they have them in stock so you should be ok. I found Krakow really confusing to find my way around when I went for some reason (and it wasn't the vodka!) so I can imagine how much of a nightmare it was.

When I did exactly the same as you when I went to Prague last time it wasn't so bad as I used to live not far away for a short while so I know my way around very well - but it was still really frustrating!

Happy shooting

I hope you got the battery OK. And - was the new battery charged up?
That must have been very discouraging to find out that you had no
battery for your trip. I think my first reaction would have been PANIC.
Probably my second would have been to find some local Vodka.
Now, because it has been on my mind since reading the first post - - -
Did you unplug the charger? My second panic attack would have come from
worrying if the charger might start a small fire or worse.
So, plugged or unplugged????

Pentax chargers are 'smart chargers', so will switch off once they detect the 'hump' in the voltage from the batteries (Hence why the little light goes out...) .
So a small saving grace I guess...

(Of course ; just to balance that peace of mind with a touch of concern.... Nothing is going to help if a rat chews through the feeder line in your absence )

Ah, so now I know why I have not "upgraded" to a K5 from
my beloved K200D, It is not because I am too poor; it is because
I want to stay with alkalines.
That is my story now and I am sticking with it.
