Filed Under: Crave !! World's smallest camera claimed

World's smallest camera claimed | Crave - CNET

QuoteQuote:
The camera in question, from novelty retailer Hammacher Schlemmer, is slightly larger than a cubic inch (1.125 inches by 1 inch by 1.063 inches) and weighs half an ounce. The company claims it's the world's smallest digital camera.

Being so very small it's probably easy to lose, despite the included wrist lanyard. It's small enough to be a choking hazard for toddlers and pets. Another cause for hesitation is its $99.95 price tag.
Hmm, a cube about 26mm per side. How small is too small? [I have some bad jokes about choking hazards, nevermind.] Would these make good ear/nose/navel-ring attachments? Or cat toys? Party favours? Xmas stocking stuffers? Annoyances?

You've got some good ideas there.

The cat toy and earrings are very good.

I want one that's small enough to swallow and to allow me to monitor things. It should have a small light as well. It should be cheap and probably disposable.

I know things like that already exist but I want a consumer version. Why should medical people have all the fun.

I guess nobody else here is much interested in tiny cameras. Pity.

Perhaps even in the Pentax world there is a certain amount of "non-interest" towards cameras that are different.

Me, I tend to like things because they are 'neat'. If I wasn't working at just above minimum wage just now I'd have bought one of those cameras just to have fun with.

I can see them being an interesting novelty even at a wedding on each table or some sort of conference banquet. $99 is rather high though. If the price could be reduced a lot they could be used as a fun giveaway at a conference. Have everyone use them and then retrieve the photos for display on the last evening at the grand banquet.
