What would you buy?

I won a US$300 Ritz Camera gift certificate in a photo contest and I want to spend it on something for my camera. It's not enough for a new lens and they don't have a lot of Pentax lenses to choose from.

I was thinking a video camera, or a good set of binoculars, or maybe a Point-n-Shoot when my trusty Pentax K2000 won't do?

Any ideas? :-) What would you buy at Ritz Camera for $300?

Add a few bucks and get this:

Pentax Optio WG-1 GPS Waterproof Digital Camera (Green) - 16911 - RitzCamera.com

I do like these though

Pentax UCF WP 10x25 Binocular (with Case) - 62609 - RitzCamera.com

Good suggestions. I'm very tempted by the Optio. And, the binoculars. Hmm.... food for thought.

Flashes, Tripods, stabilization, bags, memory cards - you know the less flashy but important items. OR The rationalizer in me says to buy whatever it is that you wouldn't otherwise buy. The stuff you would buy, well, you're likely go to buy that eventually anyways.

Hmm, if you buy something and return it, will the refund be in cash or credit? Or could you buy something you don't want for $300, resell it for $295, and apply the cash to what you REALLY want at B&H or Adorama or KEH?

I'm leaning very heavily toward buying something I really don't "need" since this was "found money". But still good ideas -- looking for something I don't have. I'm a total novice with flashes so maybe there's something there I could look into to.

Flash would be great, but not the 360FGZ (doesn't swivel). You know what the say, "Available light shooters are people who don't know how to use flash."

Congratulations, where's the winning picture?

If it was me I would put the money towards a Sigma 10-20mm since they have that online. Or maybe a telescope for $300.

The contest was a small one, but I'm thrilled with the prize: Mather LifeWays - Photo Contest

I have a Sigma 10-20 already - I do like that lens! I used to have a telescope... that's also a good idea.

Another Idea?

First off, congratulations on winning the prize!
Now, my suggestion; Adobe Elements and a $200.00 photo printer.
Good luck, whatever you choose...

Thanks! And great suggestions.... I already have Adobe Elements. (I'm starting to feel pretty well equipped!) If only the Pentax Q weren't so darn expensive -- they don't have it on Ritz Camera anyway... I would love to try out one of these cameras. I should probably stay within $50 of $300 though. :-) I have a big decision to make! I'll come back and let everyone know what I got when I decide.

Congratulations!

I'd look at a new tripod and/or a panorama head for it.
Or a/some ND filter(s) or a filter holder system.
Or if they have it the Sigma EX 530 Super is a good PTTL flash with bounce and swivel for much less than the Pentax flashes.

I've tried to several times but it's not sticking - I think I need to donate some money to the site to make any changes to my signature. Either that, or I'm a total idiot because it won't work when I try to add it.
