Thanks for the action Travis. I has this photo that I always wanted to convert to B&W but I didnt like the look of the various B&W conversion steps I have tried. I used your actions and can honestly say I am satisfied. Thanks a lot!

Greg Gorman Step 19 and 20 confusion

if you merge visible, how do you find the option to Overlay? it doesn't give me that since i only have a background layer now. please help. thanks

For the past few months I've been concentrating on B&W; I've tried Gorman's various methods including this one; I've tried just about every technique that can be done through PS4; and IMO nothing comes close to the NIK Silver Efex Pro plug-in. Folks will say you can save the $200 and do anything that Efex does in PS4, and that may be true although I doubt any selection/masking technique can match the "Control Point" feature or the "File Types" selection in Efex, but where it would take 5 minutes with the plug-in it could literally take hours to get close with PS. Me, I'd rather spend the time and energy at the critical part of the process... learning how to "see" the best color image for B&W and then figuring out how to read the light to get the best color for best B&W, and leave the conversion to the algorithms,
