In my opinion, just becoming something more than just "everybody else" is a great start - especially when that "everybody else" is competition like Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, Samsung, Fuji, Kodak, and others. The next step for Pentax is to continue distancing itself from that competition, firmly establishing itself as the #3 player in the DSLR market. That will mean to even better support from third-party venders, better press coverage, and so on.

I could not agree more. Here where I live in perhaps the largest media market on the planet, canon, nikon, sony fuji etc all run TV commercials..They advertise a bunch in the papers and so forth...I have yet to see a single Pentax add. Not a one...Oh I know they are in photo mags but how many people really buy those? The fact that pentax is doing so well is simply because of word of mouth...Sure you have haters like ''rice high'' but for the most part owners love their pentax gear...So for me, I am truly happy my daughter bought me my first K110D because the store was out of D40's...So I became a pentaxian by accident and am very happy about it...I do not own pentax because it cost a little less money than Nikon or Canon.....The way I see it, the better that Pentax does in sales and in these on line polls, the better it is for all of us...This will encourage pentax to develop more lenses, bodies, flashes, etc...So a hollow victory? No way...
