1) Start making money with my photography. This hobby has gotten out of control, at least as a business I can write some of it off.

2) Buy a full frame camera; sure hope there's a Pentax by that time.

I have a long list - not written yet - but a long list of goals for 2012. So I'll offer a few of the ones that come immediately to mind (in no particular order).

- Control my LBA by selling off a bunch of lenses and only buying a DA 15 limited - seriously.
- Shoot more film and get my darkroom going again.
- Upgrading my computer, it's about time after 6 years.
- Doing one major photo shoot a month.
- Entering my photos in local competitions.
- Working harder on my compositional skills.

That ought to do it for the short list.

Delve deeper into street photography.
Roll back/limit spending on lenses and cameras.
Spend more time shooting, less time on the forums.

After 18 months, I've finally finished reading all of the photography books that I'm going to read for a good long while. So my main photography goals for 2012 are to 1) not read any photo books, 2) become more proficient with the equipment I currently own, 3) photoblog more frequently, and 4) continue streamlining my PP workflow.

Gear: trying to be content with lenses, however, I would like a battery grip because I am shooting a LOT more portraits now.
Subjects: shooting through random weekly themes with my brother.
Techniques: focusing on B&W conversion in LR, with an emphasis on developing an individual style through toning, dodging, and burning, etc.

Easier said than done, but I agree with HEEGZ - I'd like to get much more proficient at the gear I already own.
I'd like to limit my lens buying this year to one or two lenses (lol).
I'd like to experiment and learn more about light and lighting techniques.
I'd like to shoot more people, just have to find some who will let me! Maybe start doing some portraits.

Overall, I just want to have fun and get better.

Proceed apace, i.e. keep on keepin' on.
Travel more and thus photograph more.
Resolve to make no futile resolutions.

  • Sell off 3 or so lenses to be able to get a stackshot setup
  • Get a stackshot combo working with posing cage to achieve 100% replicable results
  • Achieve 10 good images that get featured somewhere
  • 10 A3 mounted prints in office and home

1: Shoot more. 2: Shoot with specific goals in mind. 3: Spend more time looking. 4: Compose for story telling not just pretty pictures.

stop buying lenses? BWAHAHAHAHA. i make myself laugh.

like some of the others, try to consolidate my kit. sell off the lenses i don't use often and get enough cash back in the kitty for 'general purpose' use rather than just 'lens buying' use. not sure if that's going to work since i've already bought my first lens for the year.

try to share the love around with the lenses i do use. my tammy 60-300 is getting waaay too much camera time atm, but i can't seem to put it down.

other than that? sleep more, read more, and just hope the garden produces this year.

Learn to shoot decent underwater photos with my new rig (Oly XZ-1+housing+lights). And remember to use the K100D above water once in a while

I want something that I can justify attempting a 2ft by 3ft print on. There's a few candidates so far but I often find reasons to reject them. Other than that, download pictures and clear memory cards more often.
