"Shtuff People Say to Photographers"

Found this video on Digital Photography School and thought it was pretty funny. I can check just about everything on the list every time I take my camera out of the bag.

Shtuff People Say to Photographers - YouTube

Wasn't really sure where to put this, but I thought this forum fit best. If it needs to be moved, I understand.

"This lens doesn't zoom?!"
That's the best one.

"This lens doesn't zoom?"-- probably one of the most annoying comments that can come our way.

I just recently experienced that while photographing a friend's graduation. While gathering people together for a group photo, some folks noticed me framing with my feet rather than by zooming. That touched off a flurry of remarks in roughly this vein: "wow, your lens is so "high tech" huh, it doesn't even zoom?! What brand is Pentax? Cheap brand!"

(The irony of the "cheap brand" remark comes out when you consider that the lens on my K5 at the time was the 21mm Limited.)

Hahaha funny how ordinary people thinks that the farther their camera can zoom the better. And having a "no zoom" lens is bad hahahahahaha And I've encounter a lot of them in the first 6 months of my photography career(Not really a career but yeah XD). The worst one was with the 85 1.4 nikon that a friend of mine had, and this guy just randomly said that my friend's camera sucked because it doesn't zoom, we burst out laughing hahaha If only he knew that that lens is much more expensive than his beat-up car.

and i often get the, "oh so you're a photographer? how much do you charge for portraits?" grrrrr.

I got a strange comment the other day while doing a long exposure, he said "why are you using a tripod, are you too lazy to hold the camera".

A good reply would be "Only super models, celebrities and heads of state can afford my portraits!!"

That one I like. Think I'll use it if that happens to me.

Amazing how many non-funny people are comedians and how many unoriginal people think that they are the first to come up with quip/comment.
