Seler is saying same thing basically. BTW I use a gray card and white card and shoot in my living room and compare histogram and ACR exposure adjust needed--to decide what e.v. bias is needed for V and VII 1/2. I also do this with color swatches. And finally in the field I fine tune it.

Its a matrix meter weighted to the AE zone closest to the AF point selected, however, you do have to realize that the AF points and AE zones do not always correspond one to one, study the placemnt of the AE zones around each of the AF zones beforehand.
