I have a dedicated slide scanner from Nikon, but it takes a great deal of time, so I use a Pentax bellows and slide copier (M42) with a 50mm Pentax M42 Macro lens instead much of the time.

I adapt the bellows system to my DSLR and just take photos of the slides one after the other (each one takes about ten seconds after the initial focus) and am done in no time. The results are surprisingly good compared to the scanner and it is very fast.
