I personally think that's a great shot. Generally not a sepia person, but it works in this scenario.

You might want to get a reflector if you want to deal with shadows; post processing them can be difficult depending on how much you want to do.

I agree that the fill light didn't quite balance out the ambient back lighting in the scene but it's hardly a bad result. The monochrome processing could do with a little more micro contrast but otherwise it looks fine.

We did a simular to what you are describing a couple of years ago.

I used a 24" softbox with a Sigma DG500 super flash gun.







water works well.... anything that doesn't distract the viewer from the subject is a good thing

Most of all, just have fun!
