the Final version is much better to my eyes (and a lot more realistic)
Generally I'm not a massive fan of overcooking photos. I do occasionally use HDR (frequently in the same type of light as this) and I tend to dial it way down. I do all my HDR in post.

Yeah, I noticed there must be some "special" lightning caue it's imposible to do it on all photos. I still have to find what kind of light is there to understand it If anyone knows i would be appreciate to have that knowledge: ))

the hard thing with City night shots is the number of different light sources with different WB properties in my experience. You have some Tungsten of course, but now you also get LED (which can vary a fair bit depending on the lighting designers choice) , Fluorescent, Sodium, High Pressure Sodium, Mercury vapour and Metal Halide, and who knows what else. then moonlight is really a daylight WB on top of that. Easier when it's not a full moon since that is one less source

Im with Patrick here. I think its a brilliant picture. Who cares what people think. Its your pic. It might not be to everyones taste but Im sure to the vast majority would be highly in favour. You have shown it in as an art form rather than a document type realism. As such, it can only really be judged on taste anyway. Well done.... I think its ace !

I guess it just matters what you want to express, not how you take and process the picture.
I'm inclined to agree. My approach to image editing is probably somewhat more subtle than that of the OP. However, I view the work in question as a legitimate effort to make an expressive image, so I rather like it.

One could take the position that no photograph is truly realistic. One might then run for cover.

FWIW I like the final image a lot. If I were being critical, I'd say that the rooflines still need a little more work, but otherwise I really like what you've done! For me the interest lies in the different moods fighting for my attention. The overall heavy contrast and the darkened sky create an ominous feeling whereas the brightly lit buildings and the glass smooth water create a feeling of safety and serenity in spite of the ominous surroundings. Then the lens flairs throw on a layer of sparkle and happiness. In general, the whole image just has me in suspense.

thanks all!

@ HockeyDay

That's exactly what i wanted to evoke, to make some discomfort ambient on viewers with those colors. I would like to make more mages like this but no idea why it's hard to take picture and paint it like this. Still figuring out what kind of light when shooting is needed for that.

I think your final one was best. I am in general not a big fan of the super surrealistic HDR myself, but I am not the photographer! I try to use a more subtle HDR or use ND filters (if possible with the subject). Anyways, cool shots!

Keep up the good work.I think it looks too yellow, but the actual post processing effect looks great. Probably look good in B&W as well.

Its a nice pic, i just feel like you compressed the tonal range a bit too much. The reflections in the water should be brighter (close to the lights that are making them). Also the sky should be brighter as well. Otherwise I like the composition and the mood fits well!
