monitor setup help

my friend donated me his 21" CRT

it lacks focus, like... serious issues, things are readble but blurry.

i checked the connectors everything is plugged in pretty good, i downloaded the latest drivers for the monitor, but so far i'm kinda at a loss.

i've used CRT's up until 3 years ago, and i dont remember them being this fuzzy compared to LCD's

Well there are usually focus controls on a CRT. Downside is that normally you have to take off the casing to get at them. I remember my LCD being noticably sharper than my old CRT, but I wouldn't call a CRT blurry. Certainly not to the point of difficult to read. Have you tried a different monitor cable? Analog devices are particular about cable quality, especially at higher resolutions.
