The higher magnification adds to the problem -- that makes the effective f-number even larger than the nominal setting on the lens. I've been using my Pentax-M 28/2.8 reversed quite a bit lately, as it's my lens for this month's
Single-in-February challenge. It's a pretty good performer, whether normal or reversed, and is a good value. It's not ideal for high-magnification macro because its sharpest apertures begin around f/8, but for around 3:1 and lesser magnifications it works quite well.
