reverse adapter

i just played around with the FA 50 f1.4 and the DA 35 2.4 on a reverse adapter.
even with higher magnification the pictures with the DA doesnt look sharp ... i wonder if this is because of diffraction with the high arpeture of the DA (no ring)
i wanna buy a manual 28 to get around this problem .. or am i running into another barrier of softness with the focal length ?!

Right, it's because of the small aperture. DA lenses aren't good for ultra close up work.

The higher magnification adds to the problem -- that makes the effective f-number even larger than the nominal setting on the lens. I've been using my Pentax-M 28/2.8 reversed quite a bit lately, as it's my lens for this month's Single-in-February challenge. It's a pretty good performer, whether normal or reversed, and is a good value. It's not ideal for high-magnification macro because its sharpest apertures begin around f/8, but for around 3:1 and lesser magnifications it works quite well.
