Wildlife Photographer Disguises Himself as a Swan to Get Close to Other Birds

Looks like a perfect application for a sealed K5 and WR lenses.....

Wildlife photographer Henryk Janowski has an awesome and ingenious way of getting close to his subjects: he swims around in a bird blind that’s designed to look like a large white swan.

Interestingly enough, just this morning I was out at a very similar-sounding site, a swampy pond reclaimed from an old water treatment plant, now a park and great for birds, and surrounded by thick brush. I was sitting there in my little makeshift blind wondering how to get out to the open water without scaring all the birds away. I'm not sure the water's deep enough to try the "swan blind", though. More importantly, I don't have that degree of dedication. But this has me thinking.

He's been doing that for a while now, was in outdoor photographer either last year or the year before - pretty slick idea...

It's not the 1st of April yet is it.

You've gotta be kidding me, not sure the wildlife will be convinced either.

His results don't IMHO look any different to any other birder obtains with their specialist long lenses.

It's not the swan that is getting him close, it's the blind with him in it - I can get as close in my kayak when I have the camo burlap over me, and actually can get that close without the burlap over me as long as I am drifting towards them and not moving in the kayak. I do like the fact how he is completely enclosed though to have freedom to move without the subjects seeing the movement.
