soft focus

I saw some pictures that were done in soft focus. Anyone know if that is a setting that is done on the K10d camara or in photoshop or other editing proogram.

when your viewing the photo in the k10...press the FN button, and then left on the 4 way. you can apply a soft focus filter effect on the image, and save it as an additional file....

Although digital cameras can simulate soft focus, a true soft focus lens will provide a more satisfying image. A soft focus lens, such as one Pentax made some years ago, has a soft effect controlled by the f/stop. With a small f/stop, the image is clear, but as the aperture increases in diameter, it uncovers additional holes at the edges of the lens. The effect is a perfectly focused photo with a sort of glow or halo from a superposed out of focus image.
