Just thought I'd chime in with just M. I've tried other modes but I end up adjusting most everything the camera is choosing anyways and end up back at M after short adventures. All but one of my lenses are A-chipped MF primes though. The one AF lens I have (31mm) usually gets used the same way however as I usually have a lot of time to work. I tried out the DA*200 recently and SDM made me feel excited to let the camera do some of the work though, perhaps if I get one of these lenses I'll experiment with other modes (including AF, lol)

I use the M mode on my ist D 80% of the time. The Hyper manual is really swell, and lets me over or under expose very easy... It's one thing I miss on say an ist Ds or K100.

On my K10D using a variety of the "A" lenses I mostly shoot in TAv mode. I want to control the speed and the depth of field / sharpness and this lets the camera pick the right ISO setting for exposure without me having to worry about that.

Subject matter is generally moving objects (eg motorcycles) at high speed.

I'm almost always in Av or M mode. I used to always shoot at ISO 100 but have lately been shooting a lot of ISO 400-800 for experience and find that it's not that bad so I'm thinking of experimenting with TAv for awhile. I'm finding that the higher shutter speeds possible with the higher ISOs are really helping me with keeping the camera steady along with SR. Especially with telephotos.

Most people favour Av and M, apparently.

Well now I've changed camera, I want to change my vote. After a bit of playing around with the K20D I think I'll stick with P as everything can be changed from there anyway.
