WOW!
You even slightly beat Gimbal's moon in the amount of detail captured. Of course, he has more contrast and looks more stunning. But you probbaly could achieve this via PPing as well.

You're right, the moon is a good subject to compare tele lenses and TCs

Tonites Moon Phot

1/125, F8, ISO 100, 300mm (450mm).
Sigma 70-300 APO at full stretch on a K20D
Still upside down compared with you guys.

How are you guys getting the craters to show up in your moon shots, is it just the use of the smaller aperature?

Absolutely!.
f8 to f11 for sharpness, 1/125 to take out earth's rotation and ISO quite low.
My K20 & lens was happy at ISO 100.

Been trying to work out how to post a moon picture and I keep getting all screwed up so hopefully this link to a forum post will work.
