Why f16? The DA*300 is a good lens and f5.6 would give a sharper image (due to less diffraction and a faster shutter) and need less processing.
I can see one advantage, you basically kill the risk of missing the focus.

I ran through many combos of shutter speed/ISO/aperture. This frame was the sharpest. Go figure. I think it all depended on the atmospheric turbulence during the shot.

Puting the dial on TAV is good but no good when your trying to use manual mode focus and get a closer photo of the moon. I need to know the optimal shutter speed, f rating and iso rating for taking the photo.
The optimal shutter speed etc. depnds very much on

the phase of the Moon
the altitude of the Moon
the atmospheric conditions

So, I strongly recommend that you shoot completely Manual. That said, I have tried to sum up some general guidelines for exposure settings here:

Camera Settings for Astrophotography

But please remeber, these are only recommended start-out settings for your own tests with "your own" Moon and sky.

Here's how I'd set it up:

Manual mode
Aperture: F 8
ISO 200
RAW mode
SR off

Then, shoot a few at different shutter speeds on a tripod, (use a remote or 2 sec.self timer) and pick the best one. It's how I got this: (Tair 3M-5CA 500mm mirror lens)

Good luck & have fun,
Bobbo
