Can't Use Kingston 4GB Cards In K100D?

Hey All,
Getting the hang of my new K100D and just noticed I get a "card error" when I put in one of my 4GB cards from my Fuji s8000fd, Is it the brand? (Kingston) or something simple like the K100D can't take cards more than 2GB.

Thanks in advance.
Barry

That is strange - I have used Sandisk and pqi 4GB cards in my *ist Ds. Last week I tested my 8GB card in it and it was just fine.

Make sure you are running the latest firmware - that could be the key. And format it in the camera - not your PC. The format function in the camera was developed for the ----- camera.

Thanks!! That did the trick, when I bought the camera, even though it looked brand new, there was never a firmware update installed in it, now I have both updates. Thanks again. BTW, does the counter go higher than 999?

The display on my K10D is 4 characters (LCD on top) and in the viewfinder. On my *ist Ds it is three characters.

Since the K100D is a follow on to the Ds - it might only be capable of displaying three characters. Check your manual for the description of the LCD (top) and viewfinder characteristics.

Barry,

Is it a Kingston SD or SDHC card? According to the Kingston website(s) they do not manufacture 4GB SD card but SDHC only. These Kingston labeled 4GB SD cards pop up here and there. Perhaps fake ones I don't know. SD cards bigger than 2GB are rare and do not always comply to SD 2.0 specifications as I know.

I was also about to just buy one or two but now I'm hesitating a little bit. I have an *ist DS with the latest firmware installed, this might help though like in your case.

Could you confirm if your card is an SD card? This is how the one I'm talking about looks like.

Thank you.

Sanyi, it is a SD HC card, buy.com sells them for $21.00 as their regular price, sure beats the high price I was paying for Xd cards when I using my Fuji cameras. Glad I got the firmware anyway. Edit: buy.com doesn't have them at that price right now but this place does

OK, this is not only an SDHC card but a different brand too.

Anyhow, if someone had good or bad experiences with the Kingston 4GB SD card I mentioned above, I'd be more than happy to hear about it.

Thank you.

I have been using a Kingston 4gb SDHC card in my K100D for the last few months with no problems.

Garth

I was just about to say the same thing to Sanyi, the link I posted was for another brand but the Kingston 4GB is what I have been using, no problems and pretty fast reading time for a cheap card.
