Bounced Fill-In Flash w/ Direct Sun.

How would such a photo turn out since the sun itself is harsh?

Can you give us some more info? How would you bounce the flash (I guess is it indoors or outdoors)?

It depends on how much power you use for fill (you could use just a little to take the edge off the shadows making things less harsh or you could use a lot and overpower the sun)

I assume your reason for wanting to do this is to fill the dark shadow and to soften the hard edge of this dark shadow ?

The trick is to get the flash to supply 20-30% of the light in the image which will achieve that.

There are 3 ways to do that first by working out via the camera meter reading what each component is giving you, second by eye and changing fec and third using a flash meter that will tell you that ratio.

Will you be using a hot shoe mounted flash? If so turn the power down to -2 flash exposure and that will probably do the trick.

Or get the flash off the camera go fully manual ,

In either case there is no need to bounce the flash via a reflector.

ND8 filter so you can open up to f5.6 and be within x-sync. Flash may need to fire at almost full power.
