Your Dream Kit...

I don't know if this has been done before...

My dream kit: (some I already have)

Pentax K100D

Pentax K20D

18-55mm Kit Lens

Pentax 50mm 1.4

Tamron 70-300mm Macro

Pentax SMC DA* Series 50-135mm f/2.8

For now this is it, but I am sure it will grow...

So what's your dream kit?

wow, you're SO not even dreaming big.

my dream kit is made up of 2 brands, minolta/sony, and Pentax.

K200D

DA17-70mm f/4, or, if it's not sealed enough, DA*16-50mm f/2.8

DA*60-250mm f/4

DA*55mm f/1.4

and

Minolta Maxxum 7 or 9ti, depending on if the 9ti is chipped for SSM

Zeiss 24-70mm f/2.8

Minolta/Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G

Sony 16mm f/2.8 fisheye

Minolta/Sony 35mm f/1.4 G

...yeah, that's about good..

oh, and vertical grips, and flashes aren't listed. LOL

Everything's awfully close to mine, I must admit. However, I would keep some of the oldies, too!

The DA* 200/2.8 is very, very tempting. With the 1.7X AF that is en route, that gives me a 340/4.8, which isn't too shabby, and fills the gap between the 50-135 and the 400 with something with more speed than the 70-210/4, and in addition, fills the gap between the 70-210 and the 400.

I'm not overly keen on autofocus macros, preferring to use snap-in-focus which requires a manual focus lens, or a change in Pentax firmware, so the M 100/4 (although a stop slower than the new lenses) is sharp as the proverbial tack and is my keeper.

For the extreme long shots, the M 400/5.6 seems to work for me as well, now that I have figured out the exposure vagaries. If Pentax comes out with a DA* 400/4 or even a clone of the new Tamron 200-500, that would be very tempting as well. If I find a Takumar Super-Multi-Coated or Takumar S-M-C or Pentax SMC 500/4.5, the bank card will get a workout. I foolishly passed one up in Chicago for $1,100, having just bought the 170-500 Sigma, and not yet knowing that it was (for me) a dog.

Different kits for different places.
1: In the city: 10-17 fisheye and 17-55 kit
2: hiking/landscape: 12-24, 35 f2, 50-135, 1.4TC
3: prime kit, mostly for film: 31, 77, voigt 180
Plus a few A and M series that I would keep rather than sell.
I don't have everything yet, the landscape zooms and the 77 will come this spring/summer. I don't know if I'll be able to talk myself into the 31 since I have the 35.
Now we just need some camping weather.

Any chance by posting we actually get said dream kit?

My dream kit really isn't terribly extravagant. My interests are pretty broad and I'm still very much re-learning a lot so I have been looking at more of the less expensive glass until I get a bit better and figure out which direction I find myself gravitating towards...

Gots:
- K10D
- 18-55mm kit lens
- FA f/1.4 50mm
- Tamron 75-300mm zoom (macro)
- Kenko 1.5x TC
- O-ME53 eyepiece
- KatzEye (on order)
- Battery grip
- Remote F

Wants:
- Pentax AF540 flash since we're dreaming, but Sigma EF530 DG Super or ProMaster 7500EDF would work just fine.
- Sigma 17-35mm EX DG IF
- Kenko MC7 DG 2x TC
- Sigma 50mm EX DG Macro
- Tamron 90mm DI Macro

Why nots:
- K20D
- DA* 16-50mm
- DA 10-17mm fish-eye (this actually may become a need this year)
- Sigma 50-500mm - wouldn't be a complete list without the "Bigma"

And oh yeah, I would absolutely have to have the fabled SMC DA* 12-800mm f/1.2 SDM IF Pancake that Bhudda promises is coming out later this spring.

My dream stuff lies with Canon, but I know that it's completely out of my league (for small differences i don't really care about)

The ultimate practical, useful setup, for me:

2x K20D
12-24/4
16-50/2.8 (a good copy, of course)
50-135/2.8

Sigma 100-300/4
15 Ltd (when it's out)
Sigma 24/1.8, but I wish Pentax made one
31 Ltd
43 Ltd
77 Ltd
135/2.8
DA* 200/2.8

4x AF540 with pocketwizards and related lighting equiptment

Realistically, this is what I plan to own at some point (not for years):
K10D (already have this), in the future upgrading to 1 or 2 generations beyond the K20D
Sigma 28/1.8 (already have this)
FA50 (already have this)
Tamron 90mm or Sigma 105mm Macros, or something with a ring motor when available.
DA17-70mm
Some sort of long tele, maybe 60-250/4 (expensive) or 55-300 (slower and louder)

I'll probably be picking up an extra flash at some point, and some ebay triggers and umbrellas. Maybe a metz.

Well, in my few short months of ownership I have aquired:

K10d
18-55 kit
smc D FA 100mm macro 2.8 ( really diggin this lens, by the way)
smc DA 12-24
Manfrotto 190x tripod with manfrotto ball
A stupid amount of bags that I "had" to have, then " didn't " work.

Some of the things i'd like:

pentax 10-17 fisheye
either the DA* 200 OR 300 mm can't decide yet

You just have to embrace their "alternate" uses, then they all work perfectly.

Like others, I'd love to have one of everything. But I could be very, very happy with the 12-24, 35 macro, and the 50-135.
