Just for you folks up North, there in the deep freeze.....

Thanks for the link. I am north of the 47th Parallel in Minnesota and the forecasted low tonight is a balmy -32F. We like to throw hot water from a dipper into the air and watch it explode into ice crystals.

Here in western New York the temps recently went down to single digits. After reading the article in the initial post, I researched the formula to mix up the soap bubbles and gave it a try. Unfortunately, no luck. The bubbles didn't freeze quickly and broke on contact with the snow. A few of the bubbles I caught on the blow stick did start to freeze but lasted only seconds before deflating into a lump.

It's a long winter and I'd like to try it again. Any suggestions ?

My wife had to try using commercial bubble stuff. The wind ruined her efforts.

My daughters and I did it. It was fun. Better if you set the stuff outside for 10 mins first, they freeze faster once the wand and the solution are cold. They make such a tiny, thin tinkling sound when you blow on them, and the shards tumble away.
