Sending your camera in for a tune up?

Hi,

I am thinking that before my warranty is up next month I should send it in for a tune up.

I know I am running the latest firmware, however I now know that my Model Revision is 2.1

It would be nice to make sure all the FF and BF issues are taken care of as well as making sure the camera is tip-top.

I can't afford a new camera any time soon so I really want to make sure what I have is good.

Is what I want (a tune up) even possible ... will I have to pay?

Thanks,

D.

Good question. Back here for the first time in months (field work, yada yada, etc), just been reading last night about this stuff - and not even sure if there has been any kind of concensus about if the numbers refer to firmware upgrades or just indicate a trip to the warranty shop.

But I'm thinking the same thing, especially as I'm going to pull the trigger on a new Pentax zoom today. It will be a long time before I outgrow my K10d, so it would be nice to have everything "just right" as I set out on that.

Of course, if Pentax ever makes a successor to the K10d that will Bluetooth to a Trimble... well, then I would be obliged to purchase one for my business - and of course write it off as a business expense.

Mine went to Pentax this Monday. I haven't heard anything yet. Not even a note saying that they got it.

I hope they won't have it too long.

dropped off my K10D to Pentax Canada in Mississauga last week; so far did not hear any update (was told the turn around time is 2 weeks). I will check if I can pick it up next week.

Couldn't you send it in for the BF and FF problems under warranty? Shouldn't matter whether you have had them or not. (Unless they read this post).
PM me if you want me to do that and I'll get rid of the evidence.
