A macro question

I have a Pentax FA 3.5 100mm macro that works fine. I recently picked up a Pentax M 1.4 50mm that is stuck at infinity. Is there any advantage to using the 1.4 reversed or is the 100 the better way to shoot macro?

If you use reversed, the 50 might be good for fixed distance use - the FA100 will still be better in the field where you'll need to shoot at varying distances.

If you want to shoot high magnification (beyond 1:1), reversing the 50 onto a bellows or onto the 100 should produce good results. (When reversing a lens it's generally best to focus it at infinity, so no problem there.) For normal macro shooting the 100/3.5 will be much more versatile and easier to use.
