I personally love the Nifty 50 for this type of work. I know, not true Macro, but still.

A number or posts have suggested this could be made to "pop" with pp.

I absolutely disagree, this image is beautiful as it is, the reserved contrast and muted tones add a delicacy missing from all the in your face glaring images that "pop" and beat you over the head with saturated colours.

This image is just beautiful. I could look at it all day and never tire of it. Thank you for sharing.

My latest macro by any means. I'm doing a Single in June with this setup. Pentax A 50mm f2, three closeup lenses, 1, 2, and 4 plus a Raynox DCR-250.

Here is a photo I took yesterday.

Bravo!
Thanks very much for posting this. I have not tried combining three close-up attachments with my Raynox (which is a 150). Your success motivates me to try it.
Best wishes,
Stu

Thanks Stu. Yes, the 250 is for shorter focal lengths like my 50mm, but I also have just bought a 150 I'm going to try using next month. I like to experiment with lenses just to see how close I can get. I still am not getting the magnification I want, though too much magnification and you get no DOF.

This was done with a K-30, 56mm of extension tubes, an SMC-A 100 f4 macro, 49mm coupler, reversed M 50mm f4 macro. One shot. I'm fuzzy on the math but I think I should be in the 3:1 neighborhood with that setup.

Awesome shot

My was taken with a Vivitar 55mm f2.8 macro @ 1:1 coupled to a Kenko Pz-AF 1.5X teleplus DG and 60mm of extension tubes (hand held). I used the teleconverter to give me some working distance otherwise the macro would have shrouded the subject and any projected light.

What macro setup did you, schnitzer79, use to get this shot?

I was curious about the DCR-150 on focal lengths of more than 100. I have a sigma 70-300mm and a Pentax 50-200mm WR lens, I just recently bought a DCR-150 off a forum member. This shot of yours gives me hope that my shots could be good, too, with either combination of my lenses.

Thanks. Do you have EXIF data, I'm interested in f stop used.

Bug is alive. Took the photo hand held while it was still in the hibiscus bush. I was distracted by a number of small spiders and a preying mantis, but none of those hand held shots turned out - too quick for me.

Today I coupled Pentax-M 100mm f/4 with Vivitar 2x-22 teleconverter, made the diffuser for internal flash from Pringles box
It was definitely some loss of sharpness, so I need to find extension tubes instead.
Anyway, it was fun. Here is the bead about 4mm, dusty Christmas arrangement I forgot on candle holder. Lightly cropped and pp-d in lightroom.

i did get a bit lucky there since our little friend's whole body was perpendicular to the lens and managed to get almost all of it sharp.
EXIF can be seen here https://www.flickr.com/photos/109753183@N07/14502363863/

i grabbed a couple of shots at different focal lengths, this one was at 190mm. i think I have one at 300mm but DOF was extremely thin.by the way, I always keep aperture at f/16 when i use the raynox.
