What setting for fireworks?

For fireworks and sparklers (and roman candles), what setting is good in manual mode or just use night time mode ?
Probably will use the kit lens 18-55mm

Use F10 or higher. Set your focus to infinity and then move it a hair back, beside you are on manual focus. You need a longer shutter to capture the full explosion. Then adjust your iso to adapt to the light , probably iso 800 or so to start.

I just used these settings last night.

4seconds
F13
Iso 800
Pentax 18-55 wr

I also used the interval shooting and the the camera do the work. You will want to bring your iso down or speed up the shutter for the grand finally or it will be all washed out.

Good luck! Post some pictures!

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I'm out of town and without a tripod.
We'll see what I can get hand held.

Ok, set it to 1/15 of a second, f4, and iso 800-3200. This should do the trick. If you have too much shake go to 1/30. You'll get the quick light, but you may miss a little if the dreamy effect. Good luck!
