Lighting Problem

Hi, guys, I been having a problem with my lighting as I am new in the dslr ways, I have a k5ii, whenever I take a picture of a place with a light source, the light become bulbs, any suggestion to correct this? Ive tried to go manual, p and green, still to no avail. thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it. just want to know what to do.

Are you shooting into the light possibly without a lens hood? if so then you are more than likely experiencing lens flare. The cure is to use a lens hood or shade the lens with your hand or something else and not shoot directly at the light source.
