Good book for Portrait Photo

Hi all,

It took me a while a get a DSLR and I finally got one.

I have been meanly taking landscape a macro pictures for my pleasure. But I really would like to learn how to take good portrait photo, first of adults but also kids, family and finally weddings...

Do you guys have any book you could recommend?
I'll ask my wife to buy it as my father's day gift.

Thank you very much.

Thanks, but the problem on Amazon and other similar sites is all the reviews are pretty much the same. So it is hard to find out which book to buy.

Having advice from on of you will be mych appreciate. Or advice on what I need to learn first.

thk

It is not what you asked for but "Understanding Exposure" is great book to start with.

Then I would recommend snapfactory on YouTube for great video tutorials.

Next, you just need to get an external flash, patient subject and fire with your new DSLR. Once you get the basics, you can manipulate the light with umbrellas, softboxes, etc.

Thank you, I might try that book.

Though, I was looking to get posing idea and advice.
I have 2 kids, 3 years and 8 month, that is one of the reason I was looking for a book on portrait.
