Some old stuff. 29 Nov 2011. Jet Stunt Extreme Show at Seaworld, Gold Coast, Queensland. K5 + DA 55-300/F4-5.8 @300mm FL. All 1/1000s, f/6.3, ISO160. I was at quite a distance (across the lake) so the cropped frames are approx. 1/4 of the original frame area. This lens is a bit soft at 300mm compared to the DA* 60-250 at 250mm, but I wanted a light compact lens to carry around all day. SilkyPix Developer Pro 6 + PSP X7.

The sport where they hit each other with sticks. I read that back in the village on village native origins of the game, there would be as many as 3 fatalities in single game and the game lasted all day. So, more civilized than it was, but still, lot's of hitting each other with sticks.

Well, the rule book prohibits hitting other players with the stick but you can hit his (or her) stick. Knocking the other player into tomorrow with a body block, however, is perfectly legal--indeed encouraged.

As long as both hands are on the stick, I'm, pretty sure you can crosscheck. One of my workmates was one of the best pro lacrosse players in Canada. I played against him in a charity basketball tournament once. The man was a walking body check. He'd be there looking like he was doing nothing but if you made contact going by him you ended up on your seat on the floor, which he accomplished without you ever seeing him move. Never got called for a foul. He didn't move his feet, didn't move his hips, you just got magically bumped and went flying. HIs nephew, John Tavares plays for the Leafs in the NHL. Solid people those Tavares. Like knock your teeth out solid. I shudder to think what it would be like getting near him when he had a lacrosse stick in his hands.

Interestingly enough they are both named John. We taught in the same high school for about 7 years. He's the one of the right. Just looking at his picture makes my teeth rattle.

Back in my day, crosschecking was illegal--I was called for it (wrongfully, of course) once or twice--but I don't think I've seen it called in this century.
