What's the benefit of that security rope when it's hanging down?

In fact, there is someone on the ground wearing a harness and by a mechanical system holding the rope. So if the girl falls, the rope will hold her from falling to the ground.

How is she pressing up to that rock with her legs?

in rock climbing, we use a lot of heel hook, and that's what she's doing. That's not as hard as it seems in fact.

Where exactly is she trying to go when that rock further left is completely slick?

The "route" goes a bit on the left (2 meters) than goes up for 20 meters (she had already done 10 meters). The rock is not completely slick, there is what we call "tuffas" it's like small columns, that you pinch (and she pinches verry very hard).

Is the Sigma 70/2.8 Macro's AF fast enough for sports?

I'm not recommending it but for my purposes, in that situation, it did the job.

I'd love to play along but most major sports leagues here in the US are cracking down on fan photogs. Nearly every sport has prohibited lenses over 6" long and heaven forbid you try to bring into the stadium anything bigger than a Ziploc sandwich bag, so that makes camera bags contraband akin to a kilo of coke.

It's an asinine rule under the guise of "protecting the fan experience". Well maybe I can find a little league game to shoot, oh wait, if I don't have a kid playing, I could be arrested....

The first photo is taken with an SMC A 70-210 at f4, 1/160, 8000 ISO.

The next one was taken with DA 18-135 DC at 135mm, f5.6, 1/250, ISO 8000

And the final one is a scan from a 35mm positive, taken with a Super Program and Takumar-A 28-80 and AF200T flash.

Another shot, to get the idea of the place. Same roll, same settings (probably something like 1/60 to 1/125 with f1.8-3.2), MZ-5n, DA*55*, Superia 200 exposed like a 160.



*I'm amazed that the DA*55 have such quality, rendering and resolution on those 100/200 iso -and almost grainless films- even thought, many people bash this lens. This is truely a gem.
And due to this i'm looking to replace my average lenses to get something with this grade. Slow process, but worth it when i see prints !
I've printed the 1st picture in 30*45cm and there is no grain visible, even when i pixel peep closely the print. Makes me wonder what's the biggest size possible to get with this small 24*36mm negative

I acquired a K3 last week and have been out shooting some sports with it over the past couple days. I'm impressed with the quality feel of the camera, and with the images I'm getting.
