This was a little ambitious, but I don't have a better lens - I tried some of my kids' indoor soccer match using a K-3II and a DA55-300. Had to push the ISO quite a lot to keep shutter speed high, but I was pleasantly surprised by what ISO 10000 can give you with a little tweaking in Lightroom and Nik Dfine.

Like the pic with guy tongue out. Reminds me of old days when football coaches would say if you stick your tongue out while you play you have to chew gum. You are prime target for a upper cut wack from opponents thus your teeth will bury into your tongue. Can also happen by accident as well, you coming down another player going up. Jolt puts teeth in tongue.

Already posted these on M club, but xpost here also. We took turns on and behind the camera with my son couple weeks ago. K-30 and Pentax M28/3.5 used on both pictures.

The one I took with ISO400, F5.6 & 1/1500:

And the one by my son. ISO400, F8 & 1/1000:

Suburban cricket semi final. @Mohb

The pep talk ...

The batsman sends the ball on its way through cover ...

The bowler comes close to getting the outside edge ...

Catch safely completed in the deep ....

Batsman on his way, please send another!

Love close up sports photography shots you have captured. What camera and lens do you use and what did you use for these shots? Thinking of upgrading my camera.

Hi Galelegg,

It was a K-S2 with the Sigma 150-500mm for the shots except the first - that was with a Sigma 10-20mm and firing flash in broad daylight to reduce the shadows on the players' faces.

I'm more of a 'reader' than a 'poster' but I thought I'd share a few photo's I took at a Historic Race meeting at Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia in March this year. It's taken me this long have the time to sort through them fully All photos were taken with a K3 and DA* 60-250

First photo is of ERA R10B from 1936 (1/500sec F10 ISO 400)
Second photo is of a 1985 F1 GP Ferrari (1/640sec F10 ISO 320)
Third photo is of a 1965 Ford Mustang, with a 1970 Ford Falcon XY GT in pursuit (1/500sec F10 ISO 320)

With river surfers being pretty stationary relative to the scene, I thought I'd try some slow shutter speeds for these guys.
