Thank you. I also got a series of shots of another nice catch later in the game. There were lots of highlights since we won 56-13.
I realised I didn't finish my thought in my previous comment. and #12 Mossed that safety #21 there, holy moly!

Here's pretty close to the absolute limit of the K-3ii with a 55-300 PLM. Night soccer game, 300mm, bad lights, fast action, wide open at f/6.3. Shutter speed slowed all the way to 1/400th to have a fighting chance with the lighting conditions. ISO 12800 and pushed most of a stop, so really more like 25600. And using Squirrel Mafia's most aggressive ISO 12800 profile in RawTherapee. And the end result is okay. Better than not having it, I suppose.

Wish I stuck around longer to get more shots at this local match. I've lived in more... spacious countries my whole life before moving back to HK later in life. It was a bit weird seeing football being played on a hard surface but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do with multi-purpose surfaces.

The peloton. Pentax K-1, Tamron 70-200mm f2.8. Kinglake is a hilltop town 60 kilometres north east of Melbourne. Simon Gerrans behind the yellow jersey wearer had 33 pro wins in his career (including Liege-Bastogne and Milan-San Remo), once wearing the yellow jersey himself at the Tour de France.

Nice article on DPR about what takes to get "that one shot".

When do you decide to switch lenses, just during timeouts and shoot with it til the next one or do you have certain shots you want to get in mind then switch out after you get it?

I mean watching the game you feel the ebb and flow of momentum so I guess that helps

It varies since I do shoot a number of basketball games. Most nights I will take the 70-200 and the 28-75. I decided ahead of time to take the Rokinon and switched to it during a time out and then switched back while they were on the far end of the court. I do have a regular K1 as well as my K1Mii so occasionally I will take both and have the Tamron 28-75 on one and the Sigma 70-200 on the other. My most fortunate switch came in a game last year when I switched to the 28-75 late in overtime durng a timeout. I sat on the floor near the basket and got this shot in the final 1.6 seconds of the shot that won the game. You can see the scoreboard in the background as we trailed by 1.

Sometimes you just get lucky. Tuesday night I had the 70-200 on the camera and followed the opposing player after he stole the ball and I thought there might be a dunk. Instead I got a shot of our player blocking a shot.

The threads been a bit quiet of late and I've not contributed for a while so here's one with the K-1 & DA* 300/4.
