Perhaps. I kind of had it in my mind it was on the Island r/t Kowloon side but it's fairly likely I could have been mistaken about that at the time--and much more so in recollection. The walkway was a nice alternative to street-level shooting.

Had the opportunity to get out and capture a race meeting for the first time in a couple of years. I am still trying to get back to where I was with camera set up and capture so finding a venue and competition that lends itself to practicing the fundamentals of sports photography was really helpful. Better start planning for the next meeting.

I went to this meeting as a bloke I have worked with is a bit of a gun at the National level. Saw him race for the first time today and he's so smooth & fast. got to say G'Day but he's there to race and I reckon a popular bloke with the youngsters, a big part of karting it seems.

Image captured to highlight motion in Tv mode, 1/60s ISO100 F18 with the K1 & the HD D-FA* 70-200mm.

We frequently have multiple events on campus for spring sports. Last night was chilly and breezy for the first home events. I shot the first half of a girls soccer game and then moved over to shoot a couple of innings of baseball. Soccer shots are with my K1ii and Sigma 70-200 f/2.8. Baseball with my K1 and DA* 300.

I took some winter windsurfing shots today. I'm shooting Yashinon Tomioka 60/2.8 macro this month in Single In Challenge, so no catch in focus to make it easy, but it went surprisingly well in pure manual style.

I tried something a little different last night as I shot a soccer game. I decided to try using two cameras with primes rather than shooting with a zoom. I had my K1 and Tamron 90 f/2.8 and my K1ii and DA* 300. I set the extra dial to Crop so I could easily switch from FF mode to Crop mode on each camera. Normally I use my Sigma 70-200 (and have taken a second camera with the DA* 300 as well). I also have used the Sigma 50-500 when the game is early enough and there is plenty of light.

Here's a shot with the 300 in crop mode.

K3 and the only lens I hiked with, Sigma 18-35. Its a short 1.8 mile hike up to the scenic point also a launching pad for paragliders officially called the Poo Poo Point.

Nice shots. I'm always interested in others who are shooting soccer in somewhat challenging lighting with Pentax gear. It can be a difficult thing at times. I see even with the FF K-1 and some wider-aperture lenses you have some of the same difficulties I do with a K-3ii and a 55-300PLM, mainly being shutter speeds of 1/500 or slower, and ISOs that quickly creep up into the thousands.

It looks like the field you were on had some pretty decent lighting, which helps a lot. My kids play on some fields with pretty abysmal lights, so trying to keep ISO under 10,000 on APS-C is hard. Daytime with the PLM and the K-3ii is fine, but as the sun goes down it pushes the limits of that camera/lens.

I'll post one of mine from the past weekend's tournament, luckily in the daytime. Although full sun also has its difficulties, too. I find myself doing a lot of work in post with high dynamic range situations in games under cloudless skies. I also find that the biggest impact to my keeper rate it to go stand behind the goal my kid's team is attacking so I get a much higher percentage of faces. If not necessarily in-focus faces...

In any case, I'm looking forward to the improved autofocus and high-ISO capabilities of the K-3 III, specifically for shooting soccer matches.

With last season cancelled I am out of practice. These first 2 are heavily cropped jpg from the kp tamron 70-200 f2.8. I was sitting at the top of the stands (25 rows?) at the 50 yard line. After the stands there was a walkway then an 8 lane track. The players were on the far side of the field. I am please with how much I could crop. My son is number 10 the defender #24 was huge. For perspective My son is 6'0" 190lbs. My son said the defender recently won the wrestling state title as a heavy weight, he said the strongest guy he has ever gone against.

Bonus picture of my youngest, the blue guy in the middle. I have much more freedom to take pictures at that level. I really struggle with getting the exposure right with the white helmets in bright sun
