Series from a soccer match. K1ii and Sigma 50-500. This goal tied the game with 8 minutes left. The same player scored in the 2nd overtime to get the win.

A few from a final softball game of the season. Our team scored 4 in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game and send it to extra innings but lost in 9.

The big local mountain bike race. I used to race it and now I shoot it.

This might look like kind of a nothing picture. Just some kids on a soccer field. But the kid on the right with the headband is my kid. This past weekend his team played in a tournament in Columbia, Maryland. They lost all three of their games. This particular game they were up 3-1, with my kid scoring the third goal. Of course I missed taking a photo of his goal, this is a few seconds later. It was, by far, the peak moment of the weekend. At that point it looked like they'd salvage a bit of pride and dignity with a win in the last match. But the other team came back and scored four goals in fairly short order, and everyone went home a little disappointed.

So I'm sure I have a few dozen great action shots from the weekend, even with the poor on-field results. But this is the really the only one I care about.

The San Juan Solstice 50 Mile Run. Kind of a mind boggling event in the San Juan mountains of Colorado.
I had to backpack into a wilderness area a day early to be in position when they came through here just after sunrise.
A hard but fun and rewarding shoot.

I played with some panning at last Saturday's boat race. Shot with my K-3 III, DA*60-250 mounted on an HD 1.4X teleconverter. All handheld.

For the past 15 years I was the webmaster for our High School. Over that period I created over 1800 photo galleries of various activities including athletics, fine arts programs, and many other activities. I retired in June and tonight was my first time back on the sideline since retiring. Unfortunately we had a delay early in the game for lightning so I didn't get a lot of shots. Here are a few of the ones I was able to get. All with my new K3iii and Sigma 70-200.

I did hear the common question, "Would you take our picture?"

I spent a day at Finnhorse national champion race with M*300 on my K1ii. I'm used to 1/1500 to freeze target even in faster sports, but this time it wasn't quite enough to produce tack sharp horses. Not a big issue and not visible in smaller size, but something to remember next time I shoot horses that go this fast. I shot both wide open and f5.6, but can't tell for certain which is which.

Beginning of the fall soccer season, and my kid's U15 team won their bracket at the OGBC Capital Cup outside of DC.
