Picture power: Pausing the moment

Good article about photojournalism and setting up to get images of a protest...

Nice shot. But, I get exceedingly grumpy when protesters break stuff, so the picture elicits two emotions in me!

I concur, and in that shot it looks as if some innocent bystanders could get hurt; that's never a good thing.

Interesting article! I seriously want to take some shots in a demonstration, but usually here they organize it in Rome, that is very far from where I live now.
When I was younger, I was living close to Rome and I was participating in a lot of demonstration, in a pacific way, since as said above I don't like the idea to crash something to spread my ideas.

+1 When protesters turn on their neighbor's property, etc., it's no longer a protest, rather vandalism.

Emotions may be what is intended to be elicited.

Given the current events here in the US, I thought that it was timely article and insightful in terms of thinking through where the shots may occur and being in a reasonable position. Having said that, it shows what a bit of forward thinking and planning can do. Shops - and especially the likely targets of these potential incidents, can also think ahead and take a bit of precaution and preparations - especially for the benefit of their customers. Perhaps a set of flower pot barriers - just to break the stride of any hooligans planning to do something.
