How many sets of extension tubes to start with, please

I want to focus on bugs but I will do other stuff.

Should I buy a couple or just one set?

Thanks.

Hi....

Personally i know 3 ways for macro photography without spending more

[1] recommend Close up lens where you are having all the controls in your hand in manual mode and good result also then [2]extension tube(Passive)....If the Extension tube is active one means more setting you are able to do while capturing then its better one.

I am using Close up lens 10 + for getting optimum level that is also the basic one close up lens. 20+ is spoiling images...stacking of more than one closing lens also detoriarating quality....

[3]3rd option is Reverse Ring Adapter that may be used when full light is available and manually you have to maintain focus

Finally if you want to bear some cost/expense then go for Macro lens + quality close up lens.

Have a great shots ahead !!!

Lens stacking is an option , Close focus filters , Tubes , ...
Take your pick ..

What lens are you going to tube ?
A 50mm Lens would want 50mm of tube to be about 1:1 Macro
