Ive always wanted to try one of the Russian Industar 50 Pancake lenses mounted in front of a standard lens ..
The last picture , I was headed inside when I spotted a Jumping spider on the wall ..
Shooting against a white background ( MAcro ) is so hard ..

Awesome! Great closeups!
I really like that lens, sharp in the middle, no CA, and a nice rendering! I once made a clumsy contraption to place it in front of the DFA 100mm, to photograph snowflakes. The magnification and IQ were good, but more problematic were light and snowflakes melting.
What kind of filter is that in front of the Industar?

Filter came with the lens .. So I guess it might be a Industar Close focus filter of some sort ..

What size are the filter threads on the Industar 50mm F/3.5 lens? A tad smaller than 37mm, by trial. Anyone know the size?

Ooops , try again to get it right !

The close focus filter that came with the lens , is press fit in place ..
There are threads , and it would be interesting to know what they are if anyone knows ..

The lens is M42 mount , and Im using a M42 to 52mm adapter to screw the lens directly to the filter attachment of the kit lens ... So the lens is not reversed but rather the correct way around . ( Just in case )

I measured the threads on the front of my Industar 50mm f/3.5 lens (for the purpose of adding a close up lens). I got 34.89mm inside, which means the threads are probably in the range of 35-36mm, oddball.

I want to mount my 37mm close up lens, the thrifty Sony MT-2037S. It's achromatic and quite good. I may duct tape it on for a trial, but will order a couple of step rings in the meantime. More to come.

Followup 2015/1/10: I googled the filter size. Little did I know, there were two versions of this lens with different filter threads. Old ones (pre-1970??) were 33mm, recent ones are 35.5. You have to measure yours to know.

Nix the duct tape. I ordered the 35.5 to 37 step up ring from Forum Sponsor Adorama so I could use all my 37mm attachments. It's here:

Adorama Step-Up Adaptr Ring 35.5mm Lens to 37mm Filter SUR35537

If by chance you have the older lens with 33mm filter ring and need a 33 to 37 step ring, here it is:

Metal Step Up Ring 33mm to 37mm 33 37 Sonia New Adapter | eBay

By the way, the second vendor calls himself "Pentax Shop" on ebay. Great Feedback. Worth checking out if you need accessories.

A bit of a revival I know, but a couple of notes someone may find useful.

The 35.5mm filter thread as used on the later Industar 50-2 (M42-fit) lens is the same as used on some early Exa/Exakta lenses, specifically the 50mm f/2.9 Meritar and the early (all-silver aluminium) 50mm f/2.8 Tessar. Do note the neat-looking rectangular lens hoods supplied for these lenses aren't much use on the Industar 'cos the filter thread rotates as you set the aperture on that lens.

A Kodak UK 'Kodisk' 370 push-fit lens hood will fit the Industar 50-2 perfectly ... there was probably a slightly smaller size which would suit the older Industar 50, as fitted to the Zenit 3m, but I don't have one (though I do have the lens).
