neutral density filter in Photoshop?

Hi,

I know that in Photoshop there's a way to simulate the effect of a "graduated" neutral density filter. But is there a way in Photoshop to simulate the effect of a regular neutral density filter, for instance to create that "artistic blurred cascade of water" from a waterfall?

Let me rephrase that. I'm sure there IS a way, if you were painstaking enough with pixels, to do just about anything in Photoshop. But is there a relatively SIMPLE way, like with the graduated filter?

Thanks
Dave

What you probably don't want: fill a layer with a mid gray (no gradient) and set to "multiply" mode. Adjust opacity as desired. Now you have less "light" for the whole scene (what an ND filter does).

To add motion blur to waterfalls, etc. (where ND filter allows to a slower shutter speed for a given exposure), try the Motion Blur Filter. You will have mask out the areas you don't want blurred. Conceptually, not hard, but making a good mask can be a lot of work.

There is no simple way. This is still best done in camera.

What Wheatfield said. Still, it is astonishing what the motion blur filter can do if you use it carefully.
