It should give you manual focus and aperture control. The Viv. 2x is optimized for lenses of the 28-90mm range (50mm is its sweet spot) , and might not yield great results. But it's worth giving it a try, I'll test mine with the 300mm f4.5 and let you know.

Oh! Thank you very much. Please post your findings. I just ordered my DA*60-250 and I am planning to use it on this TC for wildlife. I actually thought to buy DA*300, but I am not a regular at wildlife

The DA 60-250 is an excellent choice, an excellent all around performer. I'd strongly recommend an AF 1.4x TC with it, the Ricoh/Pentax one (or the Kenko 1.5x if your budget doesn't allow it), because shooting birds and animals with a F4 lens and 2x manual teleconverter will prove rather difficult.

I can confirm that the 60-250 and pentax AW 1.4 TC work well together. There doesn't seem to be any degradation in AF ability and the image quality is excellent. The below shot was taken at full zoom with the TC on and used autofocus. I am at work so I don't have the exif handy but if memory serves this was shot at f/5.6, 1/2000 and maybe iso 200 or so. I've found that I get the best results with SR turned off.
