K20D - Sharpening

For those of you who are using the K20D, and have come across the "FINE SHARPNESS", in the Custom Image, when you scroll to the Sharpness parameter, the availabilty of this is available. What is this function perform/do.........???

According to page 155 of the camera manual, it makes the image sharper by thinning the outlines of the object. The example they give is capturing fine subjects like hair.

Like as if I need a camera that thins my hair even more.....

Personally i found that function to give blocky edges on "solid" objects.
I didnt tried it in RAW mode but in Jpeg i dont use it anymore.

well... i too, is a little confused about this subject and could use some help. Maybe i couldn't find this in the manual, or maybe i didn't read it carefully enough. The JPEG menu provides 2 choice for sharpening: Normal sharpening, and Fine sharpening. I can't tell the diff between these 2 option, it's not apparent to me.

Anyone care to share the details on this topic?
