Spiny orb and its lunch

It was a challenge. The web is too high on a palm tree. It's impossible to use LV, so I used VF on the distance placing the camera as high as possible closer to the web. The best I could get with Tamron SP 90mm f 2.8

Nice shots, I found one kind of similar in a hay field the other day. She was nice enough to pose for me.

It's a Spiny Backed Orb Weaver.

micromacro, and it's a nice shot of that spider too. Have you ever seen the male?

Me neither. I had one I was watching for this purpose only and my nephew, not knowing I didn't want him to kill her, did. I found this article on them and thought you might want to read it. It specifically says at the bottom of the article they are not dangerous and are a beneficial spider.

Yes, they are beneficial. And pretty I keep them in my garden. Sometimes they are annoying making web in my "living" space. Relocation solves the issue.
