My Pentax ME finally paid off...

Rode the bus into the city, ME Super around my neck, with the Rikenon f3.5 28mm. About four stops past my place, this amazing girl steps on, sits next to me. She's got a bagful of piano music, cute leather jacket, platinum blonde. Face like a supermodel - the cheekbones that could carve body from soul and a good man from his morals.

I had my camera under my jacket; it was raining at the bus stop. Eye contact. Took it out after she got on, twisted off the lens, started cleaning it.

She asks me if I know anything about photography. I ask her what she wants to know. She's just starting out. Bugger gold chains, diamond, platinum. The Pentax ME Super's the most beautiful piece of jewellery around.

She's got an Olympus OM, unknown model.

And a K1000.

So I fling some aperture knowledge at her, testing her - she never knew anything about that. We swap names.

There's more, I said, then I can teach you on the ten minute's we've got left on this ride. So she asks me for my number.

By now, I couldn't care less who she is or what she looks like or- SHE'S GOT A K1000!!!!!

On the other hand, my finely-honed sense of social paranoia's telling me she could be a hooker or worse - blackmailer, thief, viral marketer.

We'll see how all this pans out.

Hahahahaha.
I am working would you believe it ... well ... I am at work ... not really working hard though.
I have my camera gear with me as well ... but haven't had a chance to crack it out and have a play with it yet.

I am picking up my 2nd K10D body later today after a couple hours sleep though ... woo hoo.

Well, text messaging confirms we're still on for Sunday.

Best bit is, we're meeting in New Farm Park, next to the Brisbane Powerhous, where the World Press Photo 08 is being exhibited.

Beats goin' to an art gallery, I'll say.

Best of light for you both. Just don't offer to show her your IR shots (or etchings).

That's one hell of a compliment, there. Thanks.

Sadly, I didn't get my hands on one of the Sony handycams that can see through certain pieces of clothing.

And we are go for tomorrow.

Good luck and have fun. You'll be seeing a hottie while I'll be visiting a ruin. Literally. Either way, it should be plenty of fun for both of us.
