No I don't use a filter, but I did have the hood fully extended. Water did get on the lens, in fact I kept wiping it off. Right now (as we speak) the lens has been sitting in front of a fan for the last couple of days to thoroughly dry out. I'm not terribly concerned, but next time (if there is a next time) I will use a filter.

NaCl(it's good to know but I don't need to reproduce the results)H2O

Well I traveled 4 hours to take pictures of that place, I refused to go back without some evidence.
