There are the standards: hearts, chocolates, jewelry, roses.

Or combinations of the above, maybe with a well lit glass of champagne. Something with candles.

Or, you could go for these items in places you wouldn't think of them being (go for extreme contrasts).

Or, go the opposite and become "anti-valentines" and do something in black or dark shadows.

Just let your mind wander and see what you come up with.

Amanda,

You can try to shoot some floral closeups, try an arrangement of what one would give to their sweetheart (choclates, roses and a card). Trick with the arrangements, don't make it too cluttered and keep one item your focal point.

Try fooling around with black and whites with a colour focal point (using Picasa)

Two people on a date. Sunsets are nice too.

You could also try those "puppy love shots" ie. Kids in cute outfits exchanging valentines cards.

Hope these help.

Go buy some paper hearts and attach pipe cleaners to them as arms and legs. Pose them as couples on a giant heart. Get creative. Have one give the other flowers or something.
Set camera on tripod and do long time exposure at night outdoors. Take a penlight flashliight and aim at at the camera lens while slowly making "hearts". This works best if painter wears black so they won't show up.
thanks
