On rare occasion I was impressed about educative video. This one does and I decided to share with good folks here!

I've watched many of his videos. They're intriguing. I'm not sure I'll do it his way as its expensive buying a high end meter. Though I could sell a lens for it I suppose.

It came across to me as more of a very long infomercial for that particular meter...
But anyway that's a seriously expensive and time consuming way to avoid taking a test shot and chimping the histogram...

I've never used a separate light meter. Does it really have advantages compared to using spot metering mode and histogram in-camera? That Sekonic meter he demonstrates obviously have the advantage that it shows the dynamic range of the sensor so you know exactly how the highs/lows will be recorded - but is it worth the expense and the time needed to set up each shot?

It isn't any better than the histogram, except that you don't need to take a test shot(s) first. It's better than just relying on the camera meter for a single shot though.
However, it still doesn't help with a scene that exceeds the dynamic range of your sensor, which exceeds it whatever metering method you use and will still require HDR.

Okay, thank you. That's clear.
