I wonder if anyone will buy this lens just for the serial number?

With the state it is in $7.77 might be a more appropriate starting price.

If he sells that, I will magic-marker the numbers 777777 on everything I own, and sell them on ebay.

That is a fine thirty dollar lens. Too bad he isn't selling it as such.

What is that on the back of the lens. Looks like somebody did a really bad job of fixing a hole in it with Bondo or something.

Kevin is a good seller but most of his items are aimed at the collector market.

Might be a lucky number for some but in that condition, I don't think it was a lucky number for the lens itself.

I think this one comes close to being the stupid deal of the week: Tamron SP AF Aspherical XR 'DI' LD IF 28-75mm f2.8macro - eBay (item 250269725269 end time Jul-18-08 20:25:27 PDT)

I'm speechless! All I can say is WOW!....Twice! The laugh itself was almost worth $777 or $950!

I wonder if the price includes gift wrapping!

I couldn't help it, I had to write the guy and show him the real list value of the lens. I just wanted to see what the response would be,
Q: As one other person said, this lens is worth $350 at most for a brand new one, Check auction 160259806869 as an example. Btw. XR is Extra Refractive Index Glass and Di is Digitally Integrated Design. If you really need the money you should re-consider the price.

Here was the response:
Sure, I always open to suggestions on price, I'm an old had* [note his 210 FB] at Ebay and photography and usually I get my price - 20 %. It's not what it's worth in the book, it's what 1 person will pay for it. That's how I earn a living at this and most don't. The economy is causing some consturnation with that philosophy but it still works for me. If you have a reasonable compromise I'm all for it, but what it sells for in mcKeowns is irrellavant to me. Thanks Ron

* was that supposed to be 'hack'
I guess we're all idiots for asking fair prices on the Marketplace.
On that note I have an FA50mm available for $699.00
and an FA*300mm/4.5 for $$2499.00

I only have one of each and first come, first served. Get em while they are hot!!
